Choice of Yachts for Chartering Around the World Plus How to Choose the Best One For Your Trip

Published on: March 5th, 2020 at 1:51 pm

A lot of people now are travelling, that is just a fact of life it seems nowadays, and people more than ever are also experimenting with how they travel. People no longer just go to a travel agent and book the whole trip there and then in one large package.

Thanks to the internet people are far more independent with both how they travel and how they book their trip. Some like to just wing it and have absolutely nothing planned for months on end, the real backpacker, while others at least like to book their accommodation or tours a few days or weeks in advance to ensure they get the exact experience they want. Some of my favourite companies such as Booking.com, Hotels.com, Viator and GetYourGuide are great places to book trips yourself.

A guide to choosing the best sailing yacht to travel on

Travelling via a charter yacht

A certain type of travel that is still a little bit confusing for many people to book independently is cruises and chartered yachts. Some people are now even selling up their houses and large possessions and travelling the world on a yacht, one prime example of someone doing exactly that is Michelle from Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing. She works from her yacht and makes well over $50,000 dollars a month.

Today I wanted to dive a little more into the possibilities of chartering your own yacht for a temporary dream holiday or extended way of life. Below I will give some examples of the types of yachts you should look to charter, where in the world you can charter these and how to go about booking a private charter for yourself.

The moment you think of chartering around the world, the first thing that comes to your mind is ensuring you choose the right kind of yacht. Yacht chartering is a superb idea for vacationing and travelling around the world provided you have the perfect vessel. There are a lot of things that you need to know before finding out the exact type of yachts for travelling. The amenities, facilities, services, and crew (if required) are some of the aspects that you need to see before chartering the yacht. You must know a little bit of knowledge about the kinds of yachts that are great for chartering.

Let check out some of the different kinds of yachts that you can choose for chartering around the world depending on destinations.

Different types of yachts to charter

Below is a list of different types of yacht designs that could be of interest to anyone wanting to experience a holiday on the water. Each one will offer a different type of luxury, different speed of which to travel and are more appropriate for different destinations around the world.

Motor Yachts

The motor yachts are also known as power yachts that can deliver customized charter vacations for smaller groups. You can expect high quality and luxury services from the yacht. You can choose motor yachts for charter to any destination, but it is more advantageous to take the yacht to specific locations. They are:

●       Greece

●       Canary Islands

●       Turkey

●       French Riviera

●       Italy

Mega Yachts

You can charter in almost all the popular regions of the world in mega yachts. These are magnificent that have some unique features. All the onboard amenities are diverse and extensive. The mega yachts are generally over 101 feet lengthwise that makes it somewhat unique from the other kinds of yachts for charters. The capabilities of the yachts are dependent on the number of crew and their size. They come in different varieties like

●       Sleek designed mega yachts

●       Modern styled mega yachts

●       Classic style mega yachts

●       High-end luxury mega yachts

Multi-Hulls or Catamarans

Another type of yacht in which you can charter around different places is the multi-hulls or commonly known as Catamarans. They have two hulls that give different size and type of space for the guests aboard compared to the length of the yacht. Charters on Catamarans offer exceptional vacations to some of the exotic locations across the world, especially the Caribbean. Some of the great destinations to charter in a Catamaran in the Caribbean region are:

●       The British Virgin Islands

●       Martinique Islands

●       Grenada

●       Saint Vincent

●       Saint Lucia

●       The Grenadines

●       Bahamas

Sailing Yachts

Sailboats or sailing yachts were the first kind of vessels that were used for chartering around the world. People used to explore and travel by the seas and oceans on the sailboats when there were no propellers and motors. Now they have small motors from where the boat gets its power when the wind does not have a favourable condition to sail the boat. Many of the charter lovers till now go for sailboats to get the feel of a voyage. Also, the vessels are naturally classy. The charter lovers even get the feel of intimacy while they are vacationing on the waters. There are some specific locations where it is great to go on a sailboat to enjoy the blue waters and its surroundings. They are:

●       Croatia

●       Fiji

●       Whitsundays Islands

●       Thailand

●       Monaco

●       Balearic Islands

How to book a charter yacht for yourself

When it comes to booking a yacht or catamaran charter experience it can be a little confusing. There are not as common of travel websites as the ones I mentioned above, and this can become a little confusing.

If you are looking to do a group type trip around a destination such as Greece, Turkey or Croatia in Europe then I would highly suggest booking with a company called Busabout. They are a well-run and recognized company for flexible travel across the land in Europe but what is less known is they actually also operate many sailing and island hopping experiences as well. If you want to know more about how they operate and the benefit of using them check out the Busabout Company Review blog or go ahead and check out the group charter options, they offer.

If you are looking for a more exclusive and private charter in any of the vessels mentioned above, then I suggest contacting one of the following companies and seeing what they have to offer. Companies such as Plain Sailing, International Yacht Charter Group, Yacht Booker and Charter World offer these types of trips in some of the most magical destinations on the planet.

Of course, with all this luxury a few days, weeks, months or years doesn’t come with a budget-friendly price tag for many but I thought it was worth bringing up and sharing my thoughts on this style of travel as I keep hearing more and more people are doing it.

Organise Your Trip: Travel Advice and Tricks I Personally Use

Book Your Flight

Heading to either Skyscanner or Momondo are my methods of choice for this. They are my favourite as they search for flights from different companies all over the world. You can filter the results to suit your needs and ensure you land the best price every-time.

Book Your Accommodation

This is an important part of any holiday you’re going on. Read all the reviews and get the right accommodation via TripAdvisor. They even show you the best prices available at the time for that room from suppliers like Booking.com.For booking a hostel your best bet is to start with HostelWorld or possible even use CouchSurfing if you’re on a real budget.

Don’t Forget Travel Insurance

Travel Insurance is a must these days so you have a piece of mind you’re covered for anything that could go wrong while on your trip. I now never go on a trip away without travel insurance. I’ve been using World Nomads for the past few years.

My favourite companies that offer the best service and value are:

  • SafetyWing (cheaper option to just cover you for health issues)

Looking for the best companies to save money with?

As I have been travelling frequently over the last few years I’ve learnt some great tools to use for saving money when travelling. I have a travel resource page that lists all the trusted companies I personally use and rely on. I think you will find them good as well.

I also have a couple of great blogs that share quick and easy ways to save money on flights or accommodation. Take a look and save some cash on your next trip.

The Best Place To Book Your Tours

If you are someone you likes to have the best tours in one place and read reviews from other travellers about their personal experiences of each different tour then the best platform to use is GetYourGuide.

They offer the best tours, have money-back offers in case your trip is cancelled and ensure the price of each tour is the lowest possible.
