Traveling Guide to Queensland
Queensland is one of the largest states in Australia and as a result, often gets split into different sections known as Queensland and Northern Queensland. Both are beautiful locations in Australia and offer something slightly different to each other. The main city of Brisbane as well as the Sunshine Coast, Surfers Paradise and Fraser Island are highlights of the southern Queensland region.
In Northern Queensland, without a doubt, the star of the show is the Great Barrier Reef which stretches an incredible 2,300 kilometres and has well over 2,900 individual reefs. You can visit the Great Barrier Reef on many different styles of day or overnight trips to go diving, snorkelling, fishing and much more. Popular destinations to visit the reef are some Cairns and Airlie Beach.
Other things to do in Queensland include visiting Magnetic Island, exploring the Daintree National Park, watching whales migrate off the coast in places such as Gold Coast and Noosa, hike Mount Maroon in Mount Barney National Park and going reef, sport or game fishing. Popular cities to stay at in Queensland include the capital city of Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville, Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.
