Poland is one of the most affordable holiday destinations found in Europe and it’s for that reason it’s fast becoming the most popular country in Eastern Europe for budget travellers. Of course, cheap doesn’t always mean a great holiday destination but in the case of Poland, it certainly does.

There is a large part of European history associated with Poland, as it was home to the largest Nazi concentration and death camp while Hitler was in power during his dictator years from 1933 to 1945. The Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp is now a popular place of remembrance for anyone who visits the city of Krakow in Poland, follow this 72-hour itinerary to see the best of Krakow.

Other popular locations to visit in Poland include the mountain ranges found at Zakopane which are perfect for an affordable winter ski travel adventure, Polish capital city of Warsaw, Krakow (the old capital city) and the port side city of Gdańsk. Things to do in Poland include visiting the underground salt mine just outside of Krakow, paying respect for those that lost their lives at the Auschwitz Concentration Camp, hiking the Tatra Mountains and ski at nearby Zakopane, exploring the Warsaw Old Town area, try and find bison in Bialowieza Forest and try traditional Polish food such as pierogi, golabki and Oscypek.
