It wasn’t too long ago whenever I went on a trip, I would just look for hotels or hostels for accommodation options. That list now includes staying in short term rental options with Airbnb. You won’t believe some of the bonuses of using Airbnb.
I’ve been using Airbnb a lot lately as I have found them a great service and plan to continue this relationship moving forward with my travel plans.
I now use the Airbnb website as one of my first places I look when booking accommodation. As a bonuses of using Airbnb, if you use my link to book your first trip, you can enjoy a saving of up to $46. A nice extra for your trip.
Airbnb has been around a while now but there still are many people that really don’t know how safe and secure the service actually is, so I have taken the chance to try and eliminate any of the concerns you have in this review and show the bonuses of using Airbnb.
After you finish reading this review, I hope to have you interested in trying Airbnb for yourself and show why it’s a great platform to book your next accommodation. Here are some of the positives I have found using this service:
Cheaper than hotels if you have more people:
If you are looking to travel as a large group possibly on a family trip or with a group of friends, then renting a room each in a hotel is an expensive way to go.
If you find a short-term rental property with Airbnb to fit you all, then you can split the costs and save a lot of money on your trip. Only one set of fees split between you all is a far nicer result on your wallet.
Remember to take advantage of my $46 saving and it becomes an even cheaper option.
You can cook and save:
If you hire an Airbnb you will most likely have access to a kitchen area where you can cook some or all of your own meals while enjoying your trip. Most hotels don’t offer this service. It is one of my favourite advantages of this type of accommodation and one I appreciate a lot if I have been travelling for an extended period of time.
If you are like me then eating out is fun and most often a nice time but it can add a huge expense to your holiday not to mention a huge gain on your waistline. With having the option to prepare even your breakfast and lunch each day can save you lots of money and avoid eating delicious but naughty temptations every day.
This on top of a cheaper accommodation option than a hotel, to begin with, is a win-win.
You have a few different options when it comes to Airbnb when you are looking for your short-term rental. You can filter options and only look for entire houses to rent or do as I sometimes like to do and look for just a room.
They both have their advantages but one big advantage I like with Airbnb when you rent a room from a local is, they generally love to boast and offer awesome advice on their town or city. I have quite often found some amazing local places that I may not have visited if it wasn’t for my friendly Airbnb host.
If you are going to share a hostel room with other travellers, why not look at grabbing a room with a local and finding out more of your vacation area.
Enjoy more space and creature comforts of a home:
When you book an Airbnb, you will most likely get far more space than what would be on offer at a hotel or hostel. These are usually someone’s houses or have been in the past remember.
With this being said you should also expect to have other comforts that you would normally have in a house apart from the previously mentioned Kitchen. You might land yourself with a huge backyard, a massive deck area, games room, washing machine and the list goes on. A washing machine is always a welcome sight to me after travelling for so long.
These are more items to make you feel like you are staying in a little more luxury and comfort than you would be in a hotel.
Location can improve:
The other huge bonus that sometimes others forget about is the fact that you can have a little more flexibility with where you choose to stay. Sure, most cities have hotels and hostels everywhere but the ones in the sort after spots are generally far more expensive.
With Airbnb, you can usually find an option in a better spot for a cheaper price than a hotel, one of the huge
There is a list of the top 5 advantages I have found when booking a short-term rental with Airbnb.
Rent out a room for yourself:
Have you ever thought about renting out a spare room or your entire place while you are away on holidays yourself? It is a really new and easy way to make an extra source of income. More and more people are turning to different ways to make a side income and Airbnb offer that.
If you sign up a room using the same link as I supplied earlier, then you will receive a bonus of $75 after you complete your first hosting service.
Things to remember when looking to book an Airbnb:
1. Look at the reviews provided by other guests about the property and the host themselves. This is one way to understand what you are booking before you commit. Find out if other people have had an enjoyable experience, found the property as described or enjoyed the booking process with the host.
2. Check to see if there are any rules you will need to follow during your stay. These won’t be anything too serious but might include if you can bring pets, add extras to your booking or smoke in the property.
3. Remember Airbnb is a reviewing two-way street. This means that the property owners can also leave reviews of you as a guest. Think about how you treat the property and the owner’s property. Remember that the room or entire place is most likely not going to be cleaned every day like some hotels and try and leave the place roughly as you found in on arrival.
Do you have experience already with the bonuses of using Airbnb? Do you still prefer the old school method of a hotel or hostel? Let me know of other ways you keep your travel costs down.
I’ve reviewed a few of my Airbnb stays and other accommodation places as I’ve been travelling. Check out if I have a suggestion on where or where not to stay for your next trip. All accommodation reviews can be found here.
